Ambitious Plans in Place for a Smoke-Free UK

The government have recently set some ambitious goals to make the U.K smoke-free by 2030. The bulk of the operation has already been completed however, a lack of government funding could mean that the operation slows down to a halt and there are still some areas that retain high smoking levels.

It is proposed to reduce general smoking to below 12%, reduce the amount of under 15s who smoke from 8% to 3% and they are trying especially to reduce smoking rates within pregnancy to below 6%.

Although a smoke-free vision is in sight, the public health chief executive said this stretch will “undoubtedly be the hardest”.
