Happy Maps Parenting Resources

Thursday 16th May 2019

Whether it’s online, in books, leaflets, posters etc there is a huge amount of advice out there to be found on what parents should and shouldn’t do when helping their child sleep, eat and behave. Many books and other resources aimed at parents can make it seem like there is only one right way to do things, with many of these conflicting each other in their suggestions – this can be extremely stressful for parents looking to find advice and support on raising their child ‘the right way’.

The thing is…there is no singular ‘right’ way to do things, as you may well have discovered, what works for one child might not work for another (most parents with more than one child would agree), and just because a certain method has worked or hasn't worked for a friend, your siblings or your parents etc doesn't mean you will get the same result with your child. You’ll probably try different methods along the way before finding the one that suits your child most – and that’s okay! The most important thing is finding a method that feels right for you and your family.

To help you with your search for information, Happy Maps have selected a few resources for each parenting topic which have been recommended by other parents and by professionals. Many of the resources have been selected because of the variety of strategies suggested rather than just highlighting one way of doing thing.
