Relationships & Sexual Health


HIV Awareness

This training will look at the reported rates of infection in the UK, the HIV virus, possible routes of transmission, current treatment programmes and the impact of late diagnosis.

This workshop is aimed at anyone who wishes to know more.

  • Do you want to know more about HIV?
  • Do you want to know how HIV is passed from one person to another?
  • Do you want to know how to protect yourself from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI's)?
  • Do you want to dispel the myths of HIV?

Cost: Free - although charges will be made for non-attendance.   


LGBQ&T Inclusive Conversations

This course aims to increase participants’ confidence to include LGBQ&T specific information in conversations.

Participants will acquire the necessary skills and confidence to talk positively about LGBQ&T issues in an appropriate and informative way and be able to challenge where inappropriate language or behaviour is used.

Cost: Free - although charges will be made for non-attendance

 

 


Introduction to Sexual Health and Wellbeing

Aims:

To offer participants an introduction to sexual health including implementation of the Brook Traffic Light Tool: sexual behaviours framework.

Objectives:

  • Understand what is meant by sexual health
  • Understand personal and professional value base when working with young people and sexual health.
  • Have a basic understanding of the law around sexual behaviour including confidentiality.
  • Be familiar with sexual health services and how to effectively support young people’s engagement with services.
  • Be able to use the Brook Sexual Behaviours Traffic Light Tool in order to assess healthy and harmful behaviours local procedures.

Cost: Free - although charges will be made for non-attendance.   For delegates aged 18 or over

STIs and HIV

Aims: Offers participants an opportunity to update their knowledge around Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV

Objectives:

  • Update knowledge around HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including symptoms, testing and treatment
  • National and local context of young people’s sexual health
  • Dispel common myths
  • To learn and experience what it is like to visit the Sexual Health Hub
  • Ensuring appropriate support and service access for young people

Cost: FREE
