Further Information:

Offer a wide variety of physical activity/movement within school, ensure inclusivity, body positivity and accessibility for all

Ensure that you offer and promote a wide range of types of physical activity that are inclusive, accessible and fun. Ensure all children are encouraged and supported, no matter their ability.

Helpful Resources:

a teacher and students doing pe on the playground in bibs, text reads "sports for schools - how to encourage a positive sporting environment"

Consult with pupils and parents about physical activity and PE in schools to better understand their wants, needs and barriers to movement

Helpful Resources:
a pe teacher sitting with children with learning disabilities, text reads "activity alliance - inclusive education hub"

Cultivate an environment that supports intuitive movement

Intuitive movement links mind and body and focuses on how the physical activity makes children feel, it is centred around finding happiness and joy in movement. Each child/person will enjoy different activities, they should be encouraged and supported to find what they enjoy.

Link activity with other lessons to talk about how being physically active is good for mind and body (social, emotional and physical).
