Connect 5 - Mental Health

Connect 5 is a mental health promotion training programme that is designed to increase the confidence and skills of front line staff about mental health and wellbeing:

Module 1

This module is for all, the purpose of the session is to change the way we have mental wellbeing conversations by:

1) increasing confidence and skills to have brief conversations about mental wellbeing in your daily practice.

2) covering the 3cs [conversational feel/open discovery dialogue, compassionate care and communication skills]

3) learn 2 models to assist with wellbeing conversations [crossed axis wellbeing model and cognitive behaviour model/vicious cycle]

4) signposting services/resources 

Module 2

This module follows on from module 1 and is intended to offer greater depth for practitioners working directly with individuals on a longer term basis. 

The purpose of module 2 is to change the way you have mental wellbeing conversations to develop a shared understanding with the person you are talking with about their mental wellbeing needs.

NB: this module also provides some coverage of discussion around thoughts of suicide.

Module 3

This module follows on from module 2, being more in depth, and is intended for practitioners who work directly with individuals on a longer term basis.  Various toolkits will be explored to support extended mental wellbeing work. 

The purpose of module 3 is to change the way we have mental wellbeing conversations, that empower a person to make changes that address their mental wellbeing needs.

This training can be delivered in a physical or digital classroom over 3 x 3 hour sessions.
