Argyle FIT - Weight Loss Football League

Our hugely successful men's weight loss football league, in partnership with Plymouth Argyle Community Trust.

A fun, light-hearted league where both winning games and losing weight can help your team climb the table.

Currently running in several locations throughout Cornwall:

  • Penzance
  • Camborne
  • Bodmin
  • St.Austell

These sessions are a great way to get active, improve fitness and lose weight; all whilst having some decent banter and a laugh with a group of lads with similar goals.

Digital Adult Healthy Weight Programme

Our FREE bitesize programme is designed to help adults to begin their weight loss journey and understand how to use the free tools and links provided by our team to support you with longer term weight and healthy lifestyle goals.
 
The programme runs for 4 weeks and each session is just 30 minutes long.

All sessions are delivered digitally through Microsoft Teams.

Bitesize Healthy Families Digital Programme

Our FREE Bitesize Healthy Families programme is designed to help parents and carers support children, young people and their whole family to make healthy lifestyle changes, using the free tools and resources provided by our team to support a healthy lifestyle in the long term.

The 4-session programme runs over 4 weeks, each session running for 45 minutes.

Free Time2Move Kids' Activity Clubs for Primary School Children

Do you have a child in primary school that wants to try something new and get more active?

Our FREE Time2Move activity clubs are all about encouraging primary school aged children to be more active.

We believe that activity should be FUN! So we've partnered up with Active Cornwall, DT Coaching and 4Real Dance Company, to deliver a range of fun, different and exciting activities every week during term time. Including archery, kin ball, NERF battles, laser tag, ultimate frisbee, multi-sports and much more!

Healthy Lifestyles Support Drop In Sessions

Our Healthy Lifestyles Support sessions are FREE for anyone to drop in at any point during the session time.

The session is a chance for you to catch up with your local Health Improvement Practitioners for advice and support about a range of topics involved in improving your health and wellbeing, including:

  • Getting an up-to-date weekly weight measurement inc. muscle mass and BMI
  • Healthy weight loss advice and support
  • Answers to nutrition queries
  • Having food diaries checked over
  • Recipe ideas
  • Physical activity ideas
  • Stop smoking support, tools and resources
  • Signposting to other services
  • ...and much more

Redruth

St Austell

Support to maintain weight loss, stopping smoking, chats around healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. Scales available for weight measurement.

Location: Bridge 49, 49 Victoria Road, PL25 4QF (Parking available and near bus routes)

Day/Time:

  • 1st Tuesday of every month (Oct 1, Nov 5, Dec 3), 1:00 - 2:30pm
  • 3rd Tuesday of every month (Oct 15, Nov 19, Dec 17), 5:30 - 7:00pm

Referral Criteria: BMI 25+ for support around weight loss.

 

Liskeard

Location: Laity House, Higher Lux Street, Liskeard, PL14 3DJ

Day: Tuesday

Active Travel Social Prescribing

Our FREE Active Travel programme is designed to help adults to begin to make cycling and walking part of their everyday lives.

With the 1 to 1 support of a Health Improvement Practitioner you’ll work to break down barriers and build walking, cycling and wheeling into your everyday life.

Referral from a GP or Social Prescriber is essential.

Walking for Health

Join us for FREE as we take a gentle walk to help improve mobility and increase activity levels whilst having a social chat with other people in your area and our friendly staff members. All levels are welcome.

Gentle walk for 20-30 minutes - and cup of tea in the café afterwards. This is an ideal walk for those new to walking or trying to get back to walking.

4 different walk paces and lengths to suit most people: Slow, Medium, Brisk and Fast. We try to accommodate all abilities.

Eden Project Nature's Way Walk

For individuals with health conditions who would benefit from increased activity. Accessible routes for wheelchair users and buggies available. Routes from 30-60 mins.

Bump to Buggy Walk

 

Our FREE Bump to Buggy Walk is a friendly and gentle walking group to help you with getting active with your bumps and little ones. They also provide an opportunity to have a chat with other parents in your local area.

The walks are suitable for all abilities; and both antenatal and postnatal parents are welcome.

No booking is required, just turn up on the day and say hello.

Pool/Redruth

Held on the running track which is buggy and toddler friendly. Meet in the reception of Carn Brea Leisure Centre. you're welcome to stay afterwards for a chat with others in the café.

Free parking provided at the leisure centre – register at reception.

Walks in Association with Root Training

Join Root Training on their walking groups with a focus on getting active both physically and mentally. A variety of walks are available for different levels of fitness, including sessions for those managing long term health conditions and with lower mobility. There are also groups focused more on the social aspect of a walking and the benefits this brings.

Locations and times:

  • Mondays - Camborne - 2pm: Camborne Park near CRFC. A slower paced walk to support management of long term health conditions and lower mobility.
  • Tuesdays – Camborne - 10am: Camborne Park near CRFC. Active group walk. Often countryside walks as well as town walks.
  • Tuesdays - Helston - 2.30pm:  Helston Boating lake. Social inclusion as a focus. Slower paced but very welcoming and friendly.
  • Thursdays – Hayle - 10.15am: Various locations, updates supplied via text. Active group walk.

Couch to 5K - Beginner Running Sessions

Get support to start running and build up to run for 30 minutes with Healthy Cornwall's new free 12 week running programme. We will start with an easy walk-and-talk session and slowly build up to 30 minutes of running.
